Guide to Moving to New York

Attractions in Chelsea, NY

Chelsea Piers – You could probably spend weeks at the Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment complex and not get to experience all it has to offer. The complex includes film and television production facilities, the largest training center for gymnastics, two basketball courts, playing fields for indoor lacrosse and soccer, batting cages, a rock climbing wall, two full sized ice rinks, a bowling center, a golf club, and dance studios. Phew! Did we mention Pier 59 is home to Chelsea Brewing Company?

Chelsea Studios – If you are moving to New York this summer and have children then you should definitely take advantage of the free summer theater production of “We the People: America Rocks!” at Chelsea Studios.

The People’s Improv Theater – Have some laughs at the People’s Improv Theater, known by the locals – and soon to be you – as the PIT. Think you have some comedic talent? Take a class at the PIT and try your luck in front of a live audience!

Good Eats in Chelsea, NY

Chelsea Market – Take a walking tour of the Chelsea Market in the former Nabisco factory complex and explore the oodles of boutique bakeries and food stalls.  The complex fills two entire city blocks so if you can’t find something tasty to eat here, you might be out of luck!

Peter McManus Café – This is one of the oldest family-owned and run bars in New York City. The food is typical bar grub with old Irish ambience. Enjoy a Guinness at this Chelsea pub with some locals who definitely have some character.

Best Shopping in Chelsea, NY

192 Books – Spend an afternoon at 192 Books and get lost in the large selection of art books. If you have children, bring them down to enjoy the children’s section at this bright and spacious Chelsea bookstore.

Angel Street Thrift Shop – If you like searching for deals, take a walk down to the Angel Street Thrift Shop and browse through the racks. You are sure to find some great steals at this second hand shop.
